REVIEW: THE BODY SHOP MATTE LIP LIQUID

I'm finally back with a review! Honestly, I've been absence for such a long period. But I'll make sure that won't be the case this year, I promise.
This time I'll be talking about the matte lip liquid by The Body Shop. I've made this purchase a few months ago and tested it many times, before reviewing, to give you a true and honest opinion. The Body Shop has great body products in general and when I saw them releasing these in stores I had to brought some of them home. Besides they were on sale for 40% off! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get my hands on all of them, but these will do for now. Who knows I might pick a few more during their next sale hehe..
Now let's get into review shall we? ;)

About the product

The following description was found on The Body Shop website:

"Our creamy Matte Lip Liquid provides intense color and a soft matte finish. Specially formulated to glide on effortlessly like a gloss and set with the rich creamy color and velvety touch of matte lipstick. Our liquid lipstick is long-lasting, lightweight and lusciously soft. And like all our cruelty-free makeup, it's vegetarian too."

The lipstick contains 8 ml of product, comes in 12 shades and retails for €9,00 online and in stores.

♥ Packaging

The lip liquid comes in a plastic bottle with a doe foot applicator, which makes it easy to apply the product and getting into the corners of your mouth.
The packaging is pretty simple and comes with a black cap and coloured bottle. It's made of  sturdy plastic. The design isn't outstanding or special to me. The bottle shows what the color is supposed to look like in the tube. But don't get fooled, because the real colors look different from the packaging. So make sure to always swatch the colours!

Formula

The formula is very creamy and buttery. Besides it doesn't dry out your lips. What I'm most afraid of are liquid lipsticks that not only dry out your lips, but als get into fine lines and makes your lips chapped. I have to say that this formula is absolute amazing and that it's one of the best fomulas I've ever tried so far! It doesn't dry out your lips throughout the day, even during colder seasons. I've been testing it even without any lipbalm and my lips still look great after some time.
For your information, I tend to get dry lips easily during colder months. They will get chapped and flaky if I don't use any lipcare product. But luckily I have my Aquaphor to prevent that :)
The liquid does contain talc, just to notify you guys, cause I know it can be a concern to some people.
Ingredients

Isohexadecane, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire Dabeille, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Talc, Propylene Carbonate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Silica, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Benzoate, Parfum/Fragrance, Aqua/ Water/Eau, Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Geraniol, Limonene, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 15850/Red 6, CI 19140/Yellow 5 Lake.

♥ Texture
The lip liquid has a soft mousy texture, that dries down to a velvet matte finish. It glides smoothly on the lips. I have to say that the color is less opaque, if you compare it to the first application. It doesn't get sticky after application, which is a great.

♥ Scent

Believe it or not, the scent is actually one of my favorite aspects of this lip liquid! It smells like bubblegum, not overpowering, but just a light scent. I personally prefer lipsticks to have a nice light fragrance to it. The scent really suprised me at first, because I didn't expected it to have a candy scent at all, but more a flowery or fruity scent. The scent will go away after applying, so you don't need to worry about a lingering scent all day.

♥ Lasting power

Probs to this product for being transfer-proof and totally kiss-proof! For you guys out there that might be planning to have some ooh la la time with your beloved or just wanna give a kiss to your loved ones ;)
For lasting power I would say that the color will last through some drinks and dry foods. But it's not waterproof and won't totally last after heavy meals. You might need to reapply, especially when it comes to lighter colors. The darker colors are more opaque and more pigmented.

♥ Final verdict

This product may be a hit or miss, but this totally depends on the preferences of the user. For me personally, it's an affordable lip liquid, that feels lightweight and is transfer-proof. It glides on smoothly without drying out my lips. These aspects are very important to me, when purchasing a liquid lipstick. What I also like is the fact that it's transferproof, so it won't come off when I simply drink a glass of water.
Besides all the positive points, there are also negative ones, such as the streaky application, which might be one of the main reasons to pass this product. For me I do mind it when, the color is not fully opaque and has lots of streakiness going on. I find that the bold colors don't really have this problem, but the lighter nude colors might be having this problem.
Overall I would say I you're looking for an affordable transfer-proof liquid lipstick, that doesn't dry out the lips then give this a try. But if you're into a liquid lipstick that is fully pigmented and won't apply streaky, then I would suggest to pass this one.
